living in a shoe
I loved loved this video when I saw it
Rebecca Moses is an artist and designer best known for her fashion label.
She has also created a reputation for her stylist fashion illustrations, so she teamed up with Fratelli Rossetti to create this video for their Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.
The story, based on the nursery rhyme of an "old mother goose who lives in a shoe...", is about young ladies who live in a shoe around the world.
A project like this one has come to my "Project Wish List"....=)

Kate Moss in pink
Hello everyone!
I am still here... So sorry I've been posting so inconsistently (or better to say not posting at all) lately.
It has been a fun summer though.
I have been renewing my website with the help of my friend Alvaro... I really liked what he did, you can check it out here...
This is an illustration I did for it, it started as quick Kate Moss sketch to practice profiles for another project I've been working on... and after a few tries (that I will share later) the very final looks like this! and I just love it!
Hope this will make it up for my absence =)

me?... skate board?
I've always had a very nice group of friends from highschool and ever since we graduated we all started discovering our skills, prefences and choosing different paths. Some of my very closed ones decided they were very talented for skate boarding... and of course, it came along with skiing and surfing and all those fun sports where they balance in a little flat piece of "something"...
My talent stays with brushes and paper... But I've always wanted to join them and have as much fun as they have while doing it
So... there, me having fun with skateboarding!!
Hope you like it!

dream
"Dreams are illustrations... from the book your soul is writing about you" Marsha Norman
I have been working a new proyect with INSOUL.
Insoul is a very special jewelry concept. Each of their pieces is designed with a meaning for the heart and an intention for the soul. And we have been developing an image dictionary for this... and of course DREAM is in it
Abdul Kalam said once "You have to dream before your dreams can come true."
So dream dream dream....

expanding
I was first drawn by Alec Strang Fashion Illustrations because they remind me a bit of Laura Laine's work but extra artsy and darker touch.
The amazing thing is that he didn't stop at fashion illustration, he created this amazing video worth watching, I was in total bliss while watching it, and just felt a big urge to start learning how to create animations with the illustrations!
I couldn't have the video screen displayed on this post so I have the link for you...Enjoy it by clicking here.

Julia's Phone
The other day I ran into my friend Julia. She was holding in her hand a very big pink handset that look like it was for a grandma style phone...
I thought to my self, wow she really must like this handset to be carrying it around... And then the inevitable question...BUT where is the rest of the phone?
"It's for my IPhone silly!" she said...
I totally fell in love of it!PS The exhibition went great!

sweet sensuality
This little girl was selected, among other pieces, to be part of Skink Ink's first
Open Exhibition for Northside Open Studios
Yes!!! I am so excited, can't wait to see the rest of the pieces... the opening is tonight at 7pm, and the exhibition takes place until July 17th, so if you are around and/or want to take a look please come and stop by:
177 North 10th Street, Room G, Brooklyn NY 11211
About the illustration...
It is about sensuality. In my personal dictionary sensuality means to feel, feel and feel... feel who we are and expressing it to its fullest, to let out what we have on our inside, who we are, our motivations, feelings and thoughts... letting them free like flying birds...
Hope you can come!

me? stressed?
I guess sometime we are not even aware of the stress we bring to our lives and how easy to get rid of it...
The other day I stumble accross a little text giving me 50 ways to cope with stress... since then I decided to start trying them, specially the ones I am unfamiliar with, or never considerate....

They have been so much fun and helpful...
"Belive in you" the most important for me... However my favorite so far is "avoid tight fitting clothes", SEROIUSLY ladies, it does make a big difference =)

french summer
I guess one of the things I like the most about summer are pick nicks...laying on the grass, wearing a big colorful hat, reading, sipping fresh juice, eating a Popsicle or just doing nothing...
So when I saw this Sasha Pivovarova's editorial for French Vogue I just felt closer to that moment...
and I decided to illustrate it... and then having MY own...of course ;)

made in belgium
A couple of days ago I received a lovely thank you note from Chelsea, I gave her this illustration as a gift when I heard she loved it. I was thrilled to know she had it hanging in her office.
Even though I did it a while ago, it still feels so fresh and dynamic to me, it inspired me to start a city collection. And Paris is the next one... will be posting it soon ;)
by the way have you seen Woody Allen's new film "Midnight in Paris"... you should! photography, music, costumes, cast and story... seriously!

it feels like ages
mmmm.... it feels like has been ages since my last post.
I could come with a really good, or not so good excuse explaining why I haven't been posting. The true is that I have been procrastinating it and not making it my priority ... oops.
But here I am and here is my make up post for you guys.
When I finish this girl it gave me a feeling of seeing a picture of my mother when she was a teenager, so I liked it even more... ;)
Happy Friday!!

let it flow
Ink, Watercolor and photoshop...!
While doing this illustration I said to my self I was not going to worry about the result and let the brushes just flow... and I did... and I have to be honest, the final wasn't mind blowing, it was exactly that: relaxed and imprecise. But then I tried some watercolors... and I tried some photoshop layering... and here it is, something better, something interesting, and I learned in the process =)
So here it is, just for you guys enjoy... your friday!

my first interview!!
I was thrilled when my good friend Cecilia kindly ask me for an interview for her new blog "farfalla mia". She dedicates this space to share her interest for architecture, design and art.
It was very interesting, because you would think we artists know everything about our art and have all the answers poetically and artistically written up... until someone asks key questions and... oops! I have never thought of that!!
So I started thinking more deeply about why I do what I do and why I like it... so if you want to find out go check the interview by clicking here.
Thank you Ceci!

alexa chung
Illustration for today... the beautiful Alexa Chung behind her sweater.
Lately I have been having a lot of fun trying new tools and effects with Photoshop.
Even though the original illustration was made with watercolor, in this case, when I scan and prepare to post, I can't help but start trying a little something here and there...saturation, contrast, color, the possibilities are endless!! and they just make the illustration even more fun ;)

monday afternoon
honestly I am more of a tea drinker, but i really wanted to use this photo and make some sort illustration hybrid with it.
Someone told me that I should start "expanding" my illustration subjects, you know just in case one of my little watercolor girls would ever feel like coffee...
so I started practicing... and is a long way to get the perfectly illustrated cup of coffee, but here is the first one with whipped cream and all ;)

cherry blossoms
Lucky me... I went biking yesterday so happy to have spring finally arrived in NYC and no rain at sight.
And using my beautiful and inherited IPhone for the first time, took these cherry blossoms trees (yes, I know, technology and me have never been very close friends but I finally gave in to technology, it makes life so much easier!!!).
